if 不能引导表语从句、同位语从句、让步状语从句,可引导主语从句，可引导宾语从句。

从句 ，是复句中具有分属地位的分句，它是一种绝大部分语言都有的语法结构。在现代汉语的语法中，从句不作为专业术语被使用。在现代英语的语法中，从句指复合句中不能独立成句，但具有主语部分和谓语部分，由that、who、whom、when、why、where、how、which等引导词Connective引导的非主句部分。现在中国教育的从句二字常指现代英语的从句结构，故以下只列出现代英语的从句使用。

if从句的三种用法

if 可以引导宾语从句、条件状语从句和非真实条件句
if 引导宾语从句时，意为“是否”，一般放在动词后面，这时多数情况下 if 可以与 whether 互换
eg：
I want to know if he will come tomorrow.
我想知道他明天是否会来。
He asked me if I liked apples.
他问我是否喜欢苹果。
I wonder if he can work out this problem.
我想知道他是否能解决这道难题。
if 引导条件状语从句时，意为“如果”
多数情况下，主句与从句可调换顺序而意思不变，并且当主句用一般将来时态时，从句要用一般现在时（简称主将从现）。
eg：
If it rains tomorrow, we won't playfootball.
如果明天下雨，我们就不踢足球。
If it rains tomorrow ,we will not go to the zoo.
如果明天下雨，我们就不去动物园。
Please give this book to Li Ping if hecomes here.
如果李平来这里，请把这本书给他。
If you are late again, I'll tell yourfather.
如果你再迟到，我就告诉你父亲。
I'll be very grateful if you can help mecarry the bag.
如果你能帮我搬这个包，我会非常感谢你的。
如果 if 条件句谈论的是重复发生和预示要发生的情景和事件，则主从句大多都用一般现在时态
如：
If bears are in danger ,they attack people
如果熊处于危险之中，它们会攻击人

注意 ：
在 if 引导的条件状语从句中，if 和条件句位置灵活，可直接放在主句后面，若 if 条件句放句首， 从句后面要加逗号，和主句隔开。 还要注意前后时态一致原则
记忆口诀：
if 条件句不一般，几个要点记心间;
条件句，放在前，逗号要放句中间。
条件句，表可能，主句多用将来时；
条件句，表事实，主句常用现在时。

if能引导表语从句吗？

whether和if都可以引导宾语从句，表示“是否”，在口语或间接引语中两者可以互换使用。如：

但在有些情况下，whether和if的用法有一定区别。

whether引导的从句常可以与连词or或or
not直接连用，而if一般不能。如：
正：

误：

or
not.
2.
当宾语从句提到句首时，只能用whether引导，而不能用if。如：
正：
Whether
it
is
true
or
not,
I
can’t
tell.
误：
If
it
is

or
not,

can’t
tell.
3.
whether可以引导带to的不定式，if则不能。如：
正：
I
don’t
know
whether
to
accept
or
refuse.
误：
I
don’t
know
if

refuse.

whether及其引导的成分可放于介词之后，作介词的宾语，但if不能。如：
正：
I
worry
about
whether
I
hurt

feelings.

whether可以引导从句，作主语、表语或同位语，而if不能。如：
